From Gmail and Calendar to a Two-Minute Brief

Exactly how a personalised morning brief is made — from the moment you connect your account to the brief landing in your inbox.

The mechanism, in three facts

Reads once a day

Shortly before your delivery time — not sitting in your inbox watching

Read-only, always

It informs you; it never replies or changes anything on your behalf

Content not retained

The brief is written, then the source content is let go

Handing an AI tool access to your inbox is a reasonable thing to be cautious about. The best way to earn that trust is to be plain about the mechanism. So here is exactly how a personalised morning brief is made, from the moment you connect your account to the brief landing in your inbox, and what happens to your data along the way.

01

From connection to inbox, in six steps

01

A secure connection you control

You connect your Google or Microsoft account through the provider’s own secure sign-in (OAuth). You are never asked for your password, and you grant read access on your terms. You can see what you have shared and revoke it at any time from your own account settings.

02

It reads at your chosen time, not all day

A brief is a once-a-day event. Shortly before your preferred delivery time, the service reads the relevant slice of your recent email and your calendar for the day ahead. It is not sitting in your inbox all day watching.

03

Prioritising, not just summarising

Using Anthropic’s Claude, the service reads what it has gathered and makes judgements: which emails genuinely warrant your attention, which are routine, which meetings matter and what they concern. Newsletters, automated notices and background noise are recognised and set aside.

04

It writes your brief

The prioritised material is composed into a short, structured brief: your key emails, your day’s schedule, and the things worth knowing, written to be read at a glance and personalised to your account and your day.

05

It arrives by email

Email is a deliberate choice: it meets you where your morning already begins, on any device, with nothing new to open and no app to check.

06

It forgets the content

Once your brief is written, the content of your emails and calendar is not retained. There is no growing copy of your inbox stored somewhere. Tomorrow the process reads afresh.

The service holds only what it needs to reach you — a secure connection and your contact details — protected by strict access controls, encrypted in transit, and hosted in Australia.

Nothing is scraped and nothing is guessed. The connection is explicit, standard, and reversible.

Common questions

01

Does it read every email?

It reads recent messages to decide what matters, then surfaces only the few that need you. You are not sent a summary of all of it.

02

Does it reply to anyone or change anything?

No. A briefing is read-only. It informs you; it does not act in your inbox on your behalf.

03

Can I choose when it arrives?

Yes. You set the delivery time, and it lands before you would otherwise dive into email.

04

What if I use both Google and Outlook?

You can receive a brief from each source, so a personal Gmail and a work Outlook account stay separate rather than merged into one muddle.

05

Is it obvious the brief was written by AI?

Yes. Every brief is clearly marked as AI-compiled from your email and calendar.

The short version

Connect securely; once a day it reads your recent email and calendar; an AI decides what actually matters; it writes you a short brief; sends it at your time; and then lets the content go. That is the whole mechanism.

No archive of your inbox, no app to babysit, no fifteen-minute read. Just the morning, handled, before you open your email.
